Early Head Start is a federally funded FREE preschool program to families who qualify based on income and special needs. Early Head Start provides year round services to pregnant women and families of infants and toddlers in either the home or in a center-based classroom. Parent transportation is required for the center-base classroom program. The center-based program is available five days a week all year round.

This program is designed to serve low-income families, teenage mothers, children with disabilities, families with young children who are enrolled in workforce development programs or school and pregnant mothers.

Teachers visit children's homes for the home-based program once per week and interact with families on a wide variety of early childhood development topics. Specific issues include accessing pre- and post-natal care, early literacy, health, nutrition, positive parent-child activities, social services, and parent education. Monthly socialization meetings are held with other families with young children.
